This tutorial was done with PSP6 but could be done with other versions.

 
YOU WILL NEED
Paint Shop Pro -  Download a trial version 
 Eye  Candy 3
 pattern.jpg [optional]  
Basic knowledge of vectors and layers  
Right click on the color palette and save it to your hard drive

STEPS - These are the steps I used.


Drag the arrow to mark your place

1. Lets Begin
New Image 500 x 500 
Flood Fill  with Black - Makes it easier to see your work 
Layers/Properties - Name: black 
File/Save As: necklace.psp 
2. Pattern Layer
Foreground Color: Red 

You can either draw your own or download the .zip file containing my pattern.  If using my pattern skip down to  

Draw Tool 
Type: Freehand Line or Bezier Curve 
Style: Stroked 
Width: 3 
Antialias: Checked 
Create as Vector: Checked 

Draw the basic shape for your necklace 
Vector Object Selection Tool  
Right Click/Node Edit 
Use the nodes and handles to shape your pattern. 

When you're happy with your shape 
Layers/Convert to Raster 

Selections/Select All 
Edit/Cut 
Layers/Delete 

 
CTRL + L to paste as a new layer 
This will perfectly center your pattern 
 
Layers/Properties - Name: Pattern 

Now we are going to make some shapes to work with.  These are placed off to the side of your shape.  Once they are drawn you just copy, paste and rotate them to form the necklace.

3. Stones Layer 
Layer/New Raster Layer: Name it Stones 
Foreground Color: Select either 
Blue green Turquoise # 1DCDCB or 
Greenish Turquoise # 31E3C8  I used the Blue green 

Preset Shape Tool 
Shape Type: Ellipse 
Style: Filled 
Antialias: NOT Checked 
Create As Vector: NOT Checked 

Off to the side draw a small ellipse approximately 40 pixels tall by 25 pixels wide. 

Magic Wand 

Select & Copy this stone 
Paste a new copy & resize 

Percent of Original - Width: 60 x Height: 60 
Resize Type: Smart Size 
Resize All Layers: NOT Checked 
Maintain Aspect Ratio: Checked 

Paste a new copy & resize 
Percent of Original - Width: 45 x Height: 45 

Paste a new copy & resize 
Percent of Original - Width: 35 x Height: 35 

Paste a new copy & resize 
Percent of Original - Width: 25 x Height: 25 

These are your working stones.  

4. Silver Layer
Foreground Color: Gray #C0C0C0 

Paint Brush 
Shape: Round 
Size: 7 
Hardness: 100 
Opacity: 100 
Step: 1 
Density: 100 

Place one bead off to the side 
Change brush size to: 6 
Place another bead 
Change brush size to: 5 
Place one more bead 

Select & copy the 7 pixel bead 
Paste, then paste again leaving two pixels between them 
Change brush size to: 3 
Draw a horizontal line 2 pixels below the two beads 
Change brush size to: 2 
Draw a hook & paste a 7 pixel bead at the end 

These are your working beads  

5. Assembly - The Blossom
Make the Stones Layer your active layer 

Select and copy the next to the largest stone and paste it in the center of the top pattern line 
 
Make the Silver Layer the active layer 
Magic Wand 

Select and copy the 7 pixel bead  and paste it near the top of the stone.  Paste it a second time near the bottom of the stone. 
 
Make the Stones Layer your active layer 

Copy and paste the same stone as before 
Image/Rotate 
 
Make sure there is no check in the All Layers box 

Work back and forth between the Stone and Silver Layers 
Copying & Pasting the beads 
Copying, Pasting and rotating the stones 
Increasing the rotation by 10 each time 

6. Assembly - The Necklace
Make the Silver Layer the active layer 
Magic Wand 

Edit/Copy one 7 pixel bead 
Edit/Paste it on the line near the edge of the blossom 
 
Magic Wand Select the two bead horizontal line combination 
Edit/Copy 
Edit/Paste 
Image/Rotate 
 
Move it just below the single bead 
 
Edit/Paste another copy 
Increase the rotation by 1 
Line up below the one above 
 
Repeat the step above until about half of the side is covered 
 
Now Select the single bead and paste it along the line until you get to the center of the necklace 
Select the clasp and place it so the hook is just over the center 
 
Make the Stones Layer the Active layer 

Magic Wand Select the next to the smallest stone 
Image/Rotate 
 
Place this stone at the end of the first bar 
 
Edit/Paste 
Edit/Rotate - change the rotation to 68 
Place at the end of the second bar 
Continue Pasting and Rotating until each bar has a stone 
68 worked for all except the first one 

Magic Wand Select the large stone 
Move it to just above the center stone 
Image/Rotate 
Rotate it 45 to the left. Click ok. Keep selected 
Image/Rotate 
Rotate it 45 to the right. This fuzzes up the edges so it matches the other stones 
 
You can now delete the pattern layer 
Also delete the working stones and working beads 

7. Duplicating The Layers
Make the Stones Layer your active layer 
Layers/Duplicate 
Image/Mirror 
Select the two center stones on this layer and delete them 
Layers/View/Current Only 
Layers and click on the Stones Layer 
 
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible 
Layers/Properties change Name: Stones 

Make the Silver Layer your active layer 
Layers/Duplicate 
Image/Mirror 
Layers/View/Current Only 
Layers and click on the Silver Layer 
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible 
Layers/Properties change Name: Silver 

Layers/View/All 

8. Polishing The Stones
Make the Stones Layer the Active layer 

Image/Noise/Add 
% Noise: 28 
Uniform: Checked 

Image/Plug-in Filters/Eye Candy 3/HSB Noise 
 
Image/Sharpen/Sharpen 

Image/Plug-in Filters/Eye Candy 3/Inner Bevel 

9. Polishing The Silver
Make the Silver Layer the Active layer 

Image/Effects/Sculpture 
Apply the Silver Preset 
Pattern: Silver 
Size: 100% 
Smoothness: 19 
Depth: 52 
Ambience: 0 
Shininess: 0 
Color: white 
Angle: 315 
Intensity: 50 
Elevation: 66 

Colors/Adjust/Hue Saturation & Lightness 
% Hue: 0    %Saturation: 15   % Lightness: 68 
 
I wanted that dark sort of aged look that is so common with turquoise jewelry.  However if you want yours brighter, just apply the Hue Saturation & Lightness again or play with the settings.

10. Finishing
Merge the Stones & Silver layers 

Tube the necklace 

Change the black layer to a background of your choice
