but could be done with other versions.

All of my tutorials are written following the steps I used to make my graphic.   
It is my hope that you will take what I provide

Paint Shop Pro -  Download a trial version 
Font of your choice
The dingbat fonts I used are kitty cats tbf, can dog tbf, Boy characters, girl characters and HFF Floral Stencil.  I got them all from
 

 

Basic knowledge of brushes and layers  

Remember to SaveOften
STEPS - These are the steps I used.


Drag the arrow to mark your place

1.

Lets Begin

New Image 400x400
File/Save As: chalk.pspimage

2.

Prepare The Blackboard 

  Flood fill with #3e3c3d 

Effects/ Texture Effects/ Texture
Texture: Paper fine
Size: 100%
Smoothness: 0
Depth: 2
Ambience: 0
Shininess: 0
Color: White
Angle: 315
Intensity: 50
Elevation: 30
OK
3. Add Some Text 
  New Layer
Foreground Color: #ffffff
Background Color: #ffffff

Text Tool [T]
Create as: Selection
Font: Comic sans
Size: 48
Stroke width: 0.0
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: smooth
Leading: 0.000
Auto kern: Checked
Click somewhere in the center of the image
Type your words
Apply

You will now see your words outlined with marching ants
4. Fill The Letters 
  Paint Brush [B]
Brush: +Default
Shape: round
Size 150
Hardness: 90
Step: 34
Density: 45
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Opacity: 75
Blend mode: normal
Continuous and Wet look paint: NOT Checked

Brush Variance [F11]
All top settings: Normal & 0
Fade rate (pixels): 373
Position jitter(%): 0
Scale: NOT Checked
Impressions per step: 1

Run the brush over the selection to fill
Selections/ Select None [Ctrl+D]
 5. Add Some Dingbats
  New Layer
Text Tool
Change font to: Can dog
Change Size to: 72
Click on canvas and type the letter "c"

Paint Brush [B]
Brush on the color

New Layer
Change font to: Boy characters
Click on canvas and type the letter "i"

Paint Brush [B]
Brush on the color
You might have to click this one twice

New Layer
Change font to: Girl Characters
Click on canvas and type the letter "n"

Paint Brush [B]
Brush on the color

New Layer
Change font to: kitty cats
Click on canvas and type the letter "f"

Paint Brush [B]
Brush on the color

New Layer
Change font to: HFF Floral Stencil
Change Size to: 36
Click on canvas and type the letter "h"

Paint Brush [B]

I cropped my image to 400x250
 6. Add A Border To the Blackboard

Select the border
